The Company of RGS 90 now Receives PVC Waste for Recycling

The gate fee for one tonnes of PVC waste for recycling is 200 €

24-09-2003

On their web site the recycling company RGS 90 announces that the company is now open for reception of PVC waste at their recycling plant in Stigsnæs by Korsør in Denmark. The recycling plant itself is still under construction, and a real operation is not estimated to take place until mid 2004. However, the necessary reception and storing facilities are now ready for reception of PVC waste, and the plant has just been environmentally approved. This means that by September 1, RGS 90 has already been open for reception of PVC waste for recycling.

RGS 90 is ready to recycle all types of  PVC waste sorted out. There is no demand as to gauge or purity, and the plant can recycle both rigid and soft PVC. There will be extracted salt from the PVC waste, that the PVC industry will be able to reuse for new PVC. The fluent oil fraction can replace the use of raw oil in various industrial processes. The solid residue can be used as raw material in connection with the production of the sandblasting material Carbogrit. As a matter of fact a plant for the production of Carbogrit is already in existence at the Stigsnæs Industrial Park. The Carbogrit is partly produced by means of sewage sludge and partly by means of residues generated during the PVC recycling.

The plant in Stigsnæs will get a capacity of 12,5 tons PVC waste per hour or approximately 100.000 tons per year. Both the European Commission and the European PVC industrial coorporation, Vinyl 2010, has supported the project in Stigsnæs financially. The Commission has granted over 3 million €, while the Vinyl 2010 organisation has paid a similar amount. In addition Danish PVC converters and the Danish EPA have supported the project financially.
