Increasingly more rigid PVC recycled in Denmark

The recycling company WUPPI A/S is recycling more than 200 tonnes a months

10-09-2004

The company for recycling of rigid PVC in Denmark, WUPPI A/S, informs in a press release of today that the company experiences a remarkable increase in the quantity of PVC waste that is sent to recycling at present. In comparison with the quantity of last year, there is collected and recycled almost twice as much PVC waste this year. WUPPI is collecting over 200 tonnes PVC building waste a month for the time being.

According to Peter Bay, Director of WUPPI A/S, there are various reasons for the success. Partly, the abolishment of the PVC taxation has produced a calmer political atmosphere as to the arrangement, which means that both the public and the private sector are now seriously making use of the arrangement. The main part of the municipalities in Denmark is joining the arrangement. Moreover there have been established three new collection stations in Jutland, i.e. in Fredericia, Silkeborg and Vodskov, which makes the collection in Jutland easier. WUPPI is disposing of five collection stations in total for the time being, that are distributed over the country. Peter Bay informs that the expansion of the collection arrangement has been contributing to the success, which means that the company can now offer different ways of delivering the building waste.

The PVC building waste, that WUPPI is collecting, is being sent to mechanical recycling. This means that the waste is being crushed and afterwards used in the manufacture of new building products. The building waste of PVC, that WUPPI is collecting, is among other things gutters, down pipes, roofing, windows, doors, profiles and lists and a big number of pipes and fittings.
